PETALING JAYA – Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic) says he is sure Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his family will cooperate with efforts to seek the truth in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.
He added that Malaysian authorities need to work closely with other foreign authorities probing the scandal.
“I very much believe that efforts to seek the truth and justice in the 1MDB scandal will get good cooperation from Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak and his family.
“If they (foreign investigators) know and have information on Jho Low (businessman Low Taek Jho), surely it is their responsibility to share it with local authorities,” said Khaled in a statement.
“It is not only the correct thing to do. In fact it will help to clear the name and image of Najib and his family which are now tainted by this scandal,” he said.
Khaled said Umno wants Low and all others involved in the scandal to be brought to justice through the appropriate processes.
“Waiting and hoping for him (Low) to come forward on his own to explain will not work in this case,” he said.
Khaled said blaming the previous Government for failing to arrest Low cannot be used as an excuse anymore.
“Umno wants this matter to be resolved immediately so that it can focus on other matters which are more important,” he said.
