Tun Daim Zainuddin Wraps Up 100 Days Of The CEP

Let me begin this by making a prediction.  We are all so worried about who shall succeed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed as Prime Minister. We really should be.

My prediction is  I believe Malaysians will ask Tun Daim Zainuddin to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

If Tun Daim becomes PM, our country will continue on its recently reacquired path to prosperity and peace. To me this will be a given. Believe me on this one too folks.  Tun Daim will strongly disagree but we should begin efforts to position Tun Daim to become Prime Minister.

His knowledge of the Affairs of State, his vast experience in government, business, finance, economics, foreign affairs, a fantastic grasp of details plus a clear vision of the big picture makes Tun uniquely qualified to helm this nation.

Shouldering a huge burden. Patria, Patronus (Tanah Air, Protector)

I am really sad that Tun Daim never harbored political ambitions. A really terrible under utilisation of talent.  Well I think I have embarrassed Tun enough but I had to say this.

Yesterday I attended the "Closing Press Conference" of the Council of Eminent Persons or CEP.  This was only their second Press Conference.

I also attended their first Press Conference - when they started work 100 days ago.

So the CEP had only TWO Press Conferences - the first and the last.
Typical Daim Zainuddin style. Jangan cakap banyak. Do work first.

Here is The Star :

KUALA LUMPUR: The Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) has completed its 100-day mandate and a report containing its recommendations will be submitted to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad upon his return from China.

Its chairman Tun Daim Zainuddin said the council's last day was on Sunday (Aug 19) and everyone in the council had gone back to their respective jobs.

"As far as we are concerned, we have completed our task. The mandate is over.

Thats all The Star has to say.   The CEP will submit its detailed report of 100 Days to the PM soon. I hope the PM extends the mandate given to the CEP. It may be a revised or restructured mandate but the CEP has to stay in place.  It is an Advisory and Consulting role. It remains for the Prime Minister (and the Cabinet) to decide if they wish to accept the CEPs recommendations.

A few reporters were trying their best to pry out information on what exactly the CEP would be recommending to the Prime Minister.  Of course those questions were premature because certainly confidentiality and protocol could be breached.  Tun Daim could not reveal too much about what the CEP has recommended, including on matters like the Toll Roads, the BR1M and so on.

Listening to Tun Daim, I do believe some good news is forthcoming (for the public) about the Toll Roads but what exactly it is going to be remains to be revealed.

Here are some other pictures that I took yesterday.

Above : With Dato Kadir Jasin at the PC yesterday.  A 1000 thoughts seem
to be on Kadir's mind. One at a time bro.

Below : With video blogger Minaq Jinggo.  As you can see
I am the one who forgot to shave.

I also introduced myself to the former Governnor of Bank Negara who was present.  She immediately said, "You wrote some things about me".  Oops !!

"Bank hath no interest like a governesss scorned."  Perhaps.
