UMNO VEEP MAHDZIR KHALID ARRIVES AT MACC – EXPECTED TO BE DETAINED OVERNIGHT & CHARGED ON FRIDAY FOR CORRUPTION IN SOLAR PROJECT

FORMER education minister Mahdzir Khalid is at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters for questioning in relation to a solar hybrid project in Sarawak.
He arrived in a white Mercedes-Benz at 9.45am.
MACC sources had told The Malaysian Insight that Mahdzir was expected to be detained overnight before being charged tomorrow.
He was questioned by the anti-graft agency last month over the award of the contract for the solar project for schools in Sarawak’s interior.
It was reported that there were irregularities in the award of the contract for the RM2.5 billion project on the direct orders of a former senior national leader. – THE MALAYSIAN INSIGHT

Mahdzir arrives at MACC HQ, to be questioned again over RM2.5bil solar energy project

PUTRAJAYA: Former education minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid has been summoned again by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Sources said Mahdzir will be questioned over the RM2.5bil solar energy project for Sarawak rural schools.
He arrived at the headquarters here at around 9am on Thursday (Nov 29).
It is not known if he will be detained by the anti-graft body.
Mahdzir was questioned on Oct 16 over the same matter.
A group led by Datuk Lokman Noor Adam of Umno has already called supporters to gather “for solidarity” outside the MACC headquarters on Thursday night, if Mahdzir is arrested.
It was reported earlier that Mahdzir would be charged in court on Friday (Nov 30).
However, another source said Mahdzir’s case is likely to be postponed and that he would not be charged so soon.
If he is to be charged, Mahdzir would be the third individual to be brought to court over the case, after Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and her aide Datuk Rizal Mansor.
The two were charged separately at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Nov 15 for corruption in relation to the solar project. – THE STAR
