2 human traffickers detained with 11 Bangladeshis

KUALA LUMPUR: Two human traffickers suspected of smuggling foreigners into the country were detained along with 11 Bangladeshis in a sting by the Central Brigade of the General Operations Force at Kampung Tali Air Banting, on Friday.
The two men, aged 37 and 40, were believed to have used two cars, a Proton Wira and Proton Persona to transport the Bangladeshis, aged between 20 and 40 years, to a construction site in need of foreign workforce.
Central Brigade Commander Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji said he believed the Bangladeshis used Indonesia as a transit point before entering Malaysia through Tanjung Sepat, Selangor to work illegally in the country.
“We understand that traffickers get around RM6,000 to RM10,000 for every foreigner smuggled into Malaysia,” he told reporters after at event at the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Cemetery, here today.
Since January to March this year, 69 arrests have been made involving cases such as entering the country illegally as well as smuggling of drugs, cigarettes and liquor, he said. - FMT
