PETALING JAYA: A two-month old baby died on an AirAsia flight en route from Kuala Lumpur to Perth this morning.
According to an AirAsia spokesman, the baby died after a medical emergency on flight D7236.
He was quoted as saying by Australian news site, news.com.au, that the flight crew had called ahead for help and were met by a team of doctors upon arrival in Perth at 5.30am.
“We are unable to comment further on the infant’s medical situation. However, our thoughts are with the infant and family involved,” he said.
The flight, which was scheduled to depart Perth at 6.50am, has been delayed.
ABC News reported that the plane was still on the tarmac as of 9.30am local time.
Officers are reportedly investigating the incident, with a report to be presented to a coroner. - FMT
