Cop: I wasn't handed items seized from Wang Kelian camps

WANG KELIAN RCI | A police commander told the Wang Kelian Royal Commission of Inquiry that he did not receive the items seized during a surveillance operation on jungle camps near the Thai border.
M Joe King said if he did receive the exhibits from the operation on Jan 19, 2015, he would have mentioned it in his report.
In addition, he said he could not recall instructing his subordinate Mohd Mossadique Azni to keep the seized items.
"No exhibits were handed to me...
"I don’t remember (instructing Mossadique to keep the exhibits). If he had handed it to me, I would have included this in my report," he said.
Mossadique (below) told the RCI yesterday how items were seized from the camps and subsequently handed to ethics officer Mohd Azizie Mohd.
He said that he led a ten-member team on a surveillance operation deep in the jungles of Wang Kelian after receiving information about "camps" located there.
The mission went awry, however, after people at the camps detected police presence and fled in time.
Mossadique told the panel that he had then instructed his team to search the camps, which resulted in the seizure of several items – including a notebook scribbled in Thai, a Thai driver's license, a Nokia mobile phone, three SIM cards, a CD player and several CDs.
These exhibits were produced before the inquiry panel and identified by Mossadique.
He also revealed that he had kept the seized items with him for nine days before handing them over to Azizie.
