GEORGE TOWN: A fallen tree hit a car at the Vale of Tempe road in Penang and caused a traffic standstill on Friday morning (April 26).
State Works Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said the car belonged to a teacher who was on his way to work.
“We received a report just before 7am and immediately despatched Penang Island City Council (MBPP), the Fire and Rescue Department and the police to the scene.
“The road is closed for the time being and traffic is being diverted to other roads.
“Most of the tree has been cleared but there is one more complication – some Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) cables were brought down by the fallen tree.
“We are now waiting for TNB to fix their cables before we can allow traffic through,” he said when contacted. - Star
