Former member suggests DAP dissolve and join Bersatu

As the meeting between key leaders and nembers draw near, a former Penang DAP member has called on the party to dissolve and join Bersatu as associate members instead.
This is because DAP appears to no longer follow its principles, as it did in the past, especially when the late Karpal Singh was alive, said law lecturer Shamsher Singh Thind (above).
"Karpal said no hudud law and no crossovers. This is party principle.
"But when DAP senior leader Lim Kit Siang and secretary-general Lim Guan Eng supported Anwar's plan to take over the federal government via party-hopping method, Karpal told both of them to repent," said Shamsher in a statement.
"DAP cut ties with PAS after hudud plan reconsidered by PAS. So, why DAP didn't cut ties with Bersatu when Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed openly welcomes Umno MPs and assemblypersons to join Bersatu?" he asked.
DAP leaders like the two Lims and several ministers are slated to meet party members on the island on April 27, on Sunday, and on the mainland the next day.
DAP senior leader P Ramasamy said some burning questions are expected to be asked, while others downplayed the meeting to be a "normal, routine" affair.
Shamsher, who used to be very vocal in such meetings in the past, resigned from DAP after the party decided to join hands with Mahathir - who previously ruled the country for 22 years as its fourth premier - to oust Najib Abdul Razak following his alleged involvement in money-laundering activities related to the 1MDB.
"Karpal said Mahathir has to answer to 22 years of crimes, so why no action against him?
"Okay, he helped Pakatan Harapan to win, but Najib is out now and is facing 42 charges in court," Shamsher said.
He wants Mahathir to pass on the country's premiership soon to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, in accordance with the agreement between the two of them prior to GE14.
"Anwar had served his sentence and Najib is going through legal procedures now. Mahathir when?
"He is going around collecting awards from everywhere. Karpal must be turning in his grave, " Shamsher added.
Shamsher also took offence at DAP Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran (above) who allegedly made a "racially sensitive" remark at the just concluded Rantau by-election when he urged Tamils to vote their own race.
"Also he said he won't eat at Chinese or Malay restaurants; only Tamil restaurants he will go," Shamsher noted.
"Why no disciplinary action against this minister? He has clearly violated DAP's multiracial principles when he made these remarks," Shamsher added.
Kulasegaran has said his statements have been “interpreted in the extreme” as he was merely showing solidarity with Indians in Rantau.
He also added that he would eat in all restaurants, not just those belonging to Tamils. - Mkini
