Four princes mooted 'teh tarik' session, not Lokman, says source

The 'teh tarik' session involving four crown princes that is supposed to take place in Malacca tomorrow is the initiative of the royal members and has nothing to do with Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam.
A source told Malaysiakini that the programme also had nothing to do with the ongoing Rome Statute issue and a rally planned by political parties next Saturday.
The source claimed the princes were upset because Lokman's text message - announcing the programme - tried to link their initiative with the rally.
"This programme is (initiated) out of good intention, which is to bring the four princes out to mix with the people.
"But, Lokman (photo) was not the organiser. He only happened to know about this programme.
"It's supposed to be an interesting event to be hosted by the four princes where the people can get to mingle with them. But I don't know how it got to Lokman's ears.
"But if you see from his Lokman's messages, he tried to link this event with another event on May 4 when it is totally unrelated," he said.
The source was referring to Lokman's WhatsApp message sent out to many people, including media on Saturday. It reads:
"Semua rakyat dijemput untuk memeriahkan sessi minum petang bersama Tengku Mahkota Johor, Tengku Mahkota Pahang, Raja Muda Selangor dan Seorang lagi Tengku Mahkota atau Raja Muda. Kalau nak tahu Putera Keempat dari mana, datang beramai-ramai ok! Kita berselfie bersama mereka.
"Saya akan hadir sessi teh tarik ini dan saya juga akan hadir memberikan sokongan kepada Perhimpunan Raksaksa Membantah Statut Rom : Mempertahan Sistem Demokrasi Berparlimen Dan Raja Berperlembagaan di Dataran Merdeka jam 2.00 petang Sabtu depan 4hb May, 2019."
(All rakyat are invited to a tea time session with the Johor Crown Prince, Pahang Crown Prince, Raja Muda Selangor and another Crown Prince or Raja Muda. If you want to know who is the fourth prince, come to the event ok! We take selfies with them.
(I will be attending this teh tarik session, and I will also participate in the Rally Against Rome Statute: Defending the Parliamentary Democracy System and Constitutional Monarchy at Dataran Merdeka at 2pm next Saturday May 4, 2019).
The source, who is close to a southern state crown prince, claimed that this attempt to relate the teh tarik session with the anti-Rome Statute rally had irked not only the princes but also the royal families.
"What is upsetting to the four princes is the association between these two events.
"The way he (Lokman) wrote it looks like the princes had endorsed the rally or were the organisers."
Malaysiakini has sent a request for comments to Lokman.
