Interpol help sought to track down Sungai Kim Kim polluter

Police have sought Interpol assistance to track down a man, believed to be a Singaporean, in connection with last month’s chemical waste pollution of Sungai Kim Kim in Pasir Gudang.
The man, in his 30s, has been identified as the owner of the used tyre-processing company said to have been involved in the incident, The Star reported Johor police chief Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd as saying yesterday.
The incident resulted in more than 200 people being hospitalised, and forced the Education Ministry to temporarily close 111 schools in the district.
Khalil said the man was on the wanted list and the police were waiting for their Singaporean counterparts to arrest him.
So far, 11 people have been questioned over the incident, with two used tyre-processing company directors and a lorry driver being charged last month.
They were charged under Section 34B(1)(A) of the Environment Quality Act 1974. - Mkini
