ISKL boy beaten up in school, cops record statements from four

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded the statements of four people in connection with the incident where an International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) student was allegedly beaten up.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Noor Azmi Yusoff said the victim’s mother lodged a police report that her 15-year-old son was beaten up by a schoolmate on April 10.
“We have begun investigations and recorded the statements of four people, including the mother and a witness.
“We went to the school on April 12 and the school’s administrators informed us that they will divulge all information once their internal investigation is concluded,” he said when contacted.

The school administrators also informed the police that the 14-year-old suspect was suspended until April 12.

Supt Noor Azmi said the police are adhering to standard operating procedure in the case.
“We are being transparent in terms of our investigation.
“The case has been classified under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt,” he said.
He urged anyone with information on the incident to contact Investigating Officer Insp Emilia Jamil at 016-2479017, Senior Investigating Officer Asst Supt Shahrizal Salleh at 017-7134705 or the nearest police station.
“We hope anyone who witnessed the incident will come forward as soon as possible,” he said.
The incident at the international school has gone viral with many questioning the alleged inaction over the bullying incident.
Some even alleged a cover-up, given the school’s reputation as a Tier 1 international school.
The Star has reached out to the victim’s mother and ISKL for further information. - Star
