MACC findings on RM90m probe into PAS given to DPP - sources

The authorities are tying up loose ends in the probe into the allegation that PAS received RM90 million from Umno.
Malaysiakini was informed by sources that MACC investigators have forwarded their findings to the Attorney-General's Chambers.
"Investigators have referred the case to the office of the deputy public prosecutor.
"It is now being studied by deputy public prosecutor," said a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
MACC launched its investigation into the matter in February this year after it received a report on the allegation.
This followed claims that PAS leaders have received monies amounting to RM90 million from Umno so that they would support Umno in the 14th general election.
MACC officially confirmed the launch of the investigation after receiving a report from a member of the public alleging that RM90 million, suspected to be from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds, was deposited into the accounts of several PAS leaders.
PAS and former Umno president Najib Abdul Razak have since denied the allegation.
Since the probe was launched, the anti-graft authority has summoned several PAS leaders for questioning, including its spiritual leader Hashim Jasin (photo), secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, and former party deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa.
However, sources refused to comment when asked if MACC had included any suggestion for the case to be brought to court.
"No comment on that for now," said an official close to the case.
The sources declined to reveal MACC findings at this stage on fears that the case would be politicised. - Mkini
