Minister's son to be charged with drug abuse, says Muhyiddin

The son of a federal minister who was arrested and tested positive for drug abuse will be charged in court soon, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said.
He said police have submitted the investigation paper on the case to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC).
"Instructions have been received (by the police) that (the son) will be charged in court soon," Muhyiddin told Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (BN-Lenggong) in a parliamentary written reply dated April 4.
Muhyiddin, however, did not name his colleague.
Shamsul wanted the government to state clearly the standard operating procedure (SOP) for someone who tested positive for drug abuse and the time needed to obtain the pathology report.
"Why does it take so long for the urine test done on the son of the minister (to be produced)?" questioned Shamsul.
Muhyiddin said the police have their SOP and specific administration orders when obtaining the urine sample of a person suspected of taking illegal drugs.
These instructions included the Permanent Order of the Inspector-General of Police (PTPKN), the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and other relevant legislation, said Muhyiddin.
The pathology report on the minister's son has also been received by the police, he added.
On Jan 5, the son of Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu was detained by police after testing positive for marijuana use after a police raid at Jalan Ampang in the capital.
Mohamad later said his 31-year-old son would be subject to the country's legal process. - Mkini
