RM90 MILLION ‘WATERLOO’ COMES FOR HADI: MACC SUBMITS INVESTIGATION PAPERS TO DEPUTY PUBLIC PROSECUTOR FOR FURTHER ACTION – REPORT

Authorities are tying up loose ends in the probe into the allegation that PAS received RM90 million from Umno.

Sources told Malaysiakini that MACC investigators have submitted their findings to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

“Investigators have referred the case to the office of the deputy public prosecutor. It is now being studied by deputy public prosecutor,” said a source, speaking on condition of anonymity.

On Feb 6, the MACC confirmed that it was probing RM90 million from Umno – suspected to have originated from 1MDB – allegedly deposited into the accounts of several PAS leaders ahead of the 14th general election.

Both PAS and former Umno president Najib Abdul Razak have since denied the allegation.

Since the probe was launched, the MACC has summoned several PAS leaders for questioning, including its spiritual leader Hashim Jasin, secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, and former party deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa.

However, sources refused to comment when asked if the commission had included any suggestion for the case to be brought to court.

“No comment on that for now,” said an official close to the case.

The sources also declined to reveal MACC findings at this stage for fear that the case would be politicised.
