The academics who presented a paper on 2 April 2019 to the rulers are not the only people we need to blamed. Those who mooted them to prepare this paper should also be brought to the public knowledge or be exposed.

The academics who prepare the paper were Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) law professor Rahmat Mohamad, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) law professor Shamrahayu Abdul Aziz and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Usim) law lecturers Fareed Mohd Hassan and Hisham Hanapi.

This paper was designed to be used to convince the Conference of Rulers to reject the Rome Statute.

The arguments presented in the paper were very biased as they only discussed why the Conference of Rulers should reject the Rome Statute.

Usually the Conference of Rulers will rely on the Attorney-General's views on these matters.

The paper had among other things cited examples of war crimes tribunal against Emperor Wilhelm II and Emperor Hirohito, which had preceded the International Criminal Court (ICC), governed by the Rome Statute.

With this, it claims, proved that the rulers were not immune from prosecution at the ICC.

The paper further claimed that Myanmar, which was not a party to the Rome Statute could not be brought to the ICC despite the accusation of ethnic cleansing against their Rohingya community.

However, all these claims were untrue.

Its time that all those responsible, including the "hidden hands" for creating this "mess" of this situation be punished immediately.

Since the 9 May 2018 victory of the PH parties, there are many "unhappy" groups trying their best to undermine this legally elected democratic government and finding ways to overthrow this PH government. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
