PETALING JAYA: The Selangor PPBM Youth wing has slammed Nurul Izzah Anwar over her decision to rejoin the Public Accounts Committee, saying she should not be a part of any government committee at all.
The wing’s chief, Adhif Syan Abdullah, said the Permatang Pauh MP should be succeeded by a qualified government representative instead.
“And one who is mature and is not so emotional and childish,” he said in a statement.
Nurul is reportedly keen to rejoin the PAC after it was reported that the government is expected to file a motion in the Dewan Rakyat to replace PAC chairman Ronald Kiandee with Barisan Nasional’s Parit Sulong MP Noraini Ahmad.
She resigned last month apparently in protest of the government’s decision to retain Kiandee as its chairman, after the latter had defected to PPBM.
The former PKR vice-president said the PAC chair must be filled by an opposition MP, as promised by Pakatan Harapan in its election pledge.
Adhif said Nurul Izzah’s actions would only allow for the opposition to exploit the situation and give a bad impression of the leadership.
“Such matters can be resolved internally.” - FMT
