Adib's death: Cops to recall witnesses for polygraph tests

Police will use the polygraph to quiz some of the witnesses in their latest effort to investigate the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
The lie detector will be monitored by several Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers, said Bukit Aman criminal investigation chief Huzir Mohamed.
"We are collaborating with the MACC to use the polygraph and will determine who will be called again for the quizzing process," Huzir told the media at Bukit Aman today.
Huzir said that to date, police have recorded statements from 30 people after the inquest to determine Adib's (photo) death concluded in September.

Huzir said police will also record statements from two experts who testified in the coroner's court, namely Dr Shahrom Abdul Wahid and Amir Radzi Ab Ghani.
Police are also expecting new witnesses as they have identified several individuals from their analysis, he said.
The Shah Alam Coroner's Court had ruled that Adib's death was due to a criminal act perpetrated by two or three unidentified assailants during the riot outside the USJ Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple last November.
On a separate matter, Huzir said police will record statements from 14 people in their latest investigation into the Teoh Beng Hock (below) case.
These witnesses are old and new individuals in relation to the case, he said.
The case is investigated under Section 342 of the Penal Code for wrongful confinement.
On Nov 18, Selangor police chief Noor Azam Jamaludin said police have recorded statements from five witnesses, including Teoh's former boss and Seri Kembangan assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah, Kota Alam Shah assemblyperson M Manoharan, and several MACC officers.
On July 16, 2009, Teoh was found dead after falling from the ninth floor of Plaza Masalam, MACC's former Selangor headquarters in Shah Alam, where he had been held overnight for questioning.
Noor Azam said Attorney-General Tommy Thomas had on July 16 instructed for Teoh's case of sudden death to be re-investigated under Section 342 of the Penal Code for wrongful confinement.
Thomas had at the time explained to Teoh's family lawyer Ramkarpal Singh that the new classification was merely an administrative procedure which will not stop investigators from gathering more evidence, including on possible culpable homicide charges.
Noor Azam said the new probe was also based on a Court of Appeal judgment in 2014 that one or more unknown persons, including MACC officers, had caused Teoh's death. - Mkini
