There is friction among PKR Youth leaders over who should officiate the wing's national delegates congress on Dec 8.
This morning, 21 elected PKR Youth national committee members issued a joint statement alleging that party's deputy president Azmin Ali's invitation to officiate the event was rescinded the PKR Youth secretary.
"Rescinding the invitation goes against the spirit of the congress and established conventions," said the group,
Traditionally, the deputy president would officiate the annual congress for the Youth and Women's wings.
The group also criticised secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail over his remarks on the matter, without going into specific details.
They claimed his remarks would give the impression that PKR is facing a leadership crisis and send the wrong message to young party members.
"That is unless, the secretary-general (intentionally) wants fissures in the party to happen," said the group.
Yesterday, Saifuddin (photo), when quizzed on the matter, replied he is not involved in the guest list for annual meetings held by the party's wings.
Among the 21 signatories of the joint statement are PKR Youth deputy president Hilman Idham, vice-chiefs Mohd Nazree Yunos and Jestin Raj Savarimuthu.
When contacted, Hilman, told Malaysiakini that Azmin received the invitation to officiate the event on Sept 23.
Hilman, who is Azmin's political secretary at the Economic Affairs Ministry, said the deputy president received a letter from the PKR Youth secretary on Oct 22 informing him that the invitation had been rescinded.
'There was a precedent'
However, when contacted, PKR Youth leader Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the decision to break convention was decided by the PKR Youth national leadership during a meeting on Oct 20.
He told Malaysiakini that the leadership decided to invite PKR advisor Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (photo) to officiate the event because she was the highest-ranking government official within the party.
"There is no sudden change (in the guest of honour). We decided this on Oct 20... There's no problem. We once had a PKR Youth congress officiated by a vice-president before," he said.
Akmal said any aggrieved PKR Youth leader should use the proper channels instead of issuing inaccurate statements.
The PKR Youth leadership comprises 43 members, of which 25 are elected and 18 are co-opted. They typically meet once a month and have met eight times since February, according to Akmal.
According to sources, many of the signatories of the joint statement did not attend the meeting on Oct 20.
When contacted, Saifuddin stressed that he had no role in organising the PKR Youth congress.
"Hilman is the PKR Youth deputy chief. Surely he knows what kind of decisions are being made by them on preparations for the congress.
"This includes the guest who will officiate the event, the debaters, motions and other affairs," he added. - Mkini
The PKR Youth Council met on 20-10-19 and agreed that it will be officiated by DSWA and now all of the sudden these people are asking the lover of Haziq to officiate by the instigation of Hilmi the attack dog unleashed by the Cartel gang. This is merely an afterthought to gain traction from the cases of Haziq's lover in the Sandakan rendezvous and RM330k of traveling debt to Morocco etc with his backdoor govt gang.
ReplyDeleteAfter all not attending any PKR's meetings since last year gives him the right to attend the party congress which he is not interested? Wake up lah! Unless you people have been promised the lavish life of Adam Rosly the Ampang Youth Chief cum money launderer then you people are power and materialistic crazy lot.
