Harapan can't treat manifesto as a scrap of paper, says Ronnie Liu

Tanjung Piai voters have relayed their messages through their votes that the Pakatan Harapan government cannot treat its general election manifesto as a scrap of paper, says DAP assemblyperson Ronnie Liu.
"The voters in Tanjung Piai knew that their votes would not change anything at the federal level, but they just wanted to tell us that we cannot treat the manifesto as a scrap of paper," he said in a post on Facebook last night.
Following this, Liu said Harapan needs to work harder to fulfil the manifesto pledges and cut the cost of living.
"People are expecting to see the country's economic growth coming back together again, with more new jobs being created and more affordable housing schemes introduced throughout the country.

"Malaysians of all races and creeds want to see more affordable medical services and a better quality of life for all, a fairer government that would treat them equally and providing opportunities for all to seek higher education," he said.

The Sungai Pelek assemblyperson also cited a myriad of issues and projects which have put a dent on the people's support, such as Lynas, Sosma, education funds, as well as the third national car and the flying car projects.
"Malaysians want to see the release of the so-called LTTE supporters, including two elected representatives charged under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.
"Chinese students are waiting for the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), other students and parents want a solution for the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN), and the people of Sabah and Sarawak want to see an increase in the oil and gas royalty, just to name a few.
"I believe the people were deeply offended by unfriendly policies and 'tidak apa' (doesn't matter) attitude in dealing with racial and religious bigotry," he said.
Liu added that if there is a need to apologise to the people, Harapan should do it without reservation to help reduce the trust deficit.
In the recent Tanjung Piai by-election, BN, represented by MCA's Wee Jeck Seng, won by a whopping 15,086-vote majority against Harapan's Karmaine Sardini, who is from Bersatu.
Wee garnered 25,466 votes to Karmaine's 10,380 votes.
The voter turnout was 74.5 percent. - FMT
