Malaysiakini and Astro have struck a historic content-sharing deal which will allow the portal's video arm, Kinitv, to air its daily news bulletin on Astro's channel 501 beginning Jan 13.
Titled "Kini News", the Kinitv's segment will be aired on Astro Awani every weeknight at 9.45pm.
The show is designed to present the nation's biggest stories in bite-sized packages with the aid of powerful visuals and engaging story-telling.
Last year, Kinitv was awarded YouTube's "Golden Play Button" for surpassing one million subscribers on the platform, and its subscriber-count has drastically grown since.
Kinitv is considered the most subscribed news channel on YouTube in the country, with almost a billion views under its belt.
The building blocks for Kinitv were established in 2007, back when it was known as Malaysiakini.tv, and was renowned for its English-language coverage of various human rights issues, including the Hindraf and the first Bersih mega-rallies.
Kinitv's 14th general election coverage drew a record-breaking 7.2 million people. - Mkini
