PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has expectations for the new Sarawak PKR leadership led by Julau MP Larry Sng to perform well in the next state election.
"(I) wish the party will continue its excellent performance and embrace the agenda of the people as a whole to achieve success in the upcoming state elections," he said on social media this morning.
Yesterday, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had announced that 41-year-old Sng would helm Sarawak PKR replacing Selangau MP Baru Bian who left the party to become an independent lawmaker.
The appointment of Sng and the new state leadership line-up were agreed to by the Sarawak PKR division heads following a discussion with Anwar, said Saifuddin.
This came after Baru, who helmed Sarawak PKR since 2009 and state vice-chairperson and Saratok MP Ali Biju left the party during the recent political coup.
Sng was elected as a PKR Central Leadership Council member in the 2018 party polls.
He is known to support the leadership of Anwar. He had joined PKR after the 2018 general election during which he contested the Julau seat as an independent candidate.
Meanwhile, Batang Lupar Division chief Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh was appointed as Sarawak PKR deputy chairperson.
The new vice-chairpersons are Miri parliamentarian Michael Teo, Baram Division chief Roland Engan and Lawas Division deputy chief Japar Suyut.
Hafsah Harun, who is former state minister for social development, remains as Sarawak PKR advisor.
The full state leadership line-up is expected to be announced by the party soon. - Mkini
