Bersatu polls: Candidates upset central election committee fails to probe complaints

Malaysiakini

Several Bersatu candidates for branches and divisions in Selangor expressed disappointment with the central election committee for not responding to complaints.
Arman Putera Asmuni, who contested for the division chief post in Serdang, urged the central election committee to respond to complaints by the candidates to avoid bad perceptions from the grassroots in regards to the party polls.
"I am quite disappointed when the election committee kept mum on our complaints.
"They did not even issue a notice to say that they received the complaints, let alone interviewing complainants in person," he said in a media conference in Shah Alam today.
Also present were candidates from Hulu Selangor, Kapar, Sungai Buloh, and Batang Kali.
Arman said he filed a complaint after voters were allowed to vote without having their identification cards checked during the polls.
A candidate for Srikandi candidate under Hulu Selangor division, Julaila Mohd, said there were 17 complaints from three branches in the area, but the election committee only responded to two complaints.
"They only responded to two complaints and briefly informed us via Whatsapp that our complaints were declined without stating any reason why," she said.
Hozir Hazreeq Zainal Abbidin, who contested for the Kapar division chief post, filed a complaint on Feb 20 after he alleged that some candidates interfered in the distribution of voting papers, as well as counting the votes.
While Khairon Hasan who contested for branch chief position in Bandar Utama, Batang Kali questioned the presence of certain people in the room where the votes were counted.
"After I filed a complaint, the election committee had responded to me via Whatsapp that my complaint was dismissed.
"I urge the election committee to explain why they decline my complaint.
"I have furnished the evidence in the form of pictures and police report.
"This happened in front of my eyes but the central committee did not launch a probe," he said. - Mkini
