CORONAVIRUS | Brunei's first Covid-19 patient who tested positive on Monday had attended a gathering at a mosque in Sri Petaling and flew back on an AirAsia flight via Miri, Sarawak.
The next day, it was further announced that six others in Brunei had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Brunei's Health Minister Md Isham Jaafar said the 53-year-old retiree had left the country on Feb 27 and returned on March 3 after attending a special gathering together with over 100 others from Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
Upon returning, Md Isham said the man had also made another day trip to Miri on March 6.
He said the man who was travelling with three others started showing symptoms including body aches, fever, cough and flu on March 7.
A Covid-19 test was performed based on the symptoms and the man's history of travelling to Malaysia, said Md Isham.
Sources told Malaysiakini that the mosque's administration has been alerted of the positive case and further actions will be taken.
When contacted about the case, AirAsia's management reiterated its commitment to comply with existing regulations on disinfection procedures after each flight.
"AirAsia is complying with advice and regulations from the health authorities," it said.
