SEREMBAN: Commuters in several districts here were left in the lurch on Tuesday (March 3) morning, when a stage bus company abruptly stopped servicing some 15 routes.
It is understood that apart from Seremban, commuters in Nilai, Jelebu and Port Dickson were also affected.
It is learnt that the bus drivers decided not to turn up for work, as they had not been paid their salaries.
MCA Civil Society Movement Bureau chief Ng Kian Nam said action must be taken against the company, if the allegation was true.
"I am told the drivers have not been paid for more than two months.
"In fact, the bus company had also failed to remit their EPF deductions," he said.
Ng, a lawyer, said he would provide free legal service to the affected drivers to help them make their claims.
"The company directors cannot be forgiven for this. They should be charged under both the Employment and EPF Acts," he added.
Ng said the drivers are planning to hold a protest at the bus company depot later today.
"I will be visiting them to give them moral support," he added. - Star
