PETALING JAYA: UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) has increased measures to safeguard its employees and visitors against the Covid-19 outbreak after one of its board members tested positive.
The company said on Tuesday (March 3) that it had taken proactive steps, including to allow employees to leave early in a bid to sanitise its headquarters at Blok Menara, Kompleks Pertama, Kuala Lumpur.
"UDA is committed to implementing all steps in line with the recommendations by the Health Ministry to curb the outbreak, especially within our headquarters," the company said in a statement.
On Monday (March 2), UDA, a property company under the Entrepreneur Development ministry, said that the affected individual is now being quarantined in a government hospital.
"Following this, UDA is now taking precautionary measures to identify individuals that had close contact with the affected individual. UDA is also working with the Health Ministry (MoH) on this matter, ” noted the company.
To further improve security and health, UDA has also limited the flow of individuals entering and leaving its headquarters.
"UDA also will screen visitors by checking their temperature at the lobby of the office.
"Visitors and staff are given face masks and hand sanitisers as a preventative measure.
"Other initiatives taken by UDA to protect the welfare of its staff and to curb any more cases is by allowing all of our staff serving at the headquarters to work from home, effective today, until further notice," said UDA on Tuesday (March 3).
A former minister and his deputy were recently seen in close contact with a corporate executive identified as the 26th person in Malaysia infected with the disease.
However, the Health Ministry said both men tested negative.
It is learnt that the board member, who is also part of the Khazanah Nasional Bhd management, was at a function attended by former Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof and his deputy, Datuk Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli. - Star
