KUANTAN: Ketari assemblyman Young Syefura Othman is fed up with distasteful comments from Malaysians on social media.
The DAP politician said ever since getting involved in politics seven years ago, she had often received such comments on her online postings.
"I see that as time goes by, this has gotten out of control and the behaviour of these individuals are getting worse.
"If I am not good at performing my responsibilities as your assemblyman, you can reprimand me for my work. But not by insulting and dismissing my gender, my status and my appearance," Young Syefura said on her Facebook page.
Taking one of the netizens as an example, Young Syefura said it could be seen by the person's profile picture that he had a wife and daughters.
"How would you feel if your wife or daughters are insulted like that? What manner of satisfaction do you derive from such postings and comments? Just for fun and giggles?" she asked.
Although Young Syefura's lament received plenty of support, there were also those who said she was easily offended.
Young Syefura is a first-time assemblyman who was voted into the Pahang state assembly in the 14th General Election. - Star
