KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Two cargo flights transporting medical supplies donated by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation for the fight against COVID-19 arrived in Malaysia Wednesday (March 25).
The supplies arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Malaysia Airlines aircraft and comprised face masks, testing kits, protective suits and face shields.
"The medical supplies will also be routed to three other South-East Asian countries that are fighting to contain the virus," Malaysia Airports said via its official Twitter account, @MY_Airports, Thursday (March 26).
It added that since the outbreak, KLIA has been playing an instrumental role in the delivery and distribution of e-commerce goods and medical supplies to various countries in the region.
"Distribution to other countries taps on the cross-border logistics capabilities of the first Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP) hub in the world," it said.
The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia also announced on its official Facebook page that the supplies had arrived.
"The shipment of face masks, testing kits, protective suits and face shields is part of a wider donation initiative to Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
"The four nations will collectively receive a total of two million face masks, kits for testing 150,000 people, 20,000 protective suits and 20,000 face shields," the embassy said in its post.- Bernama
