Drones to monitor compliance in Hulu Langat

KAJANG: Drones are now being used to monitor compliance with the enhanced movement control order (MCO) in the Sungai Lui area in Hulu Langat, says Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.

The Inspector-General of Police said this began yesterday to help comprehensively monitor the people and the area.

“So far, the people are giving their full cooperation as they realise the efforts by the authorities are for their own well-being,” he told reporters after visiting the roadblock at Batu 21 in Sungai Lui yesterday.

Drones have also been used at the two first villages in Simpang Renggam, Johor that were placed under the enhanced MCO.

More than 50 police personnel were stationed at two roadblocks bordering the affected areas in Sungai Lui, said Abdul Hamid.

“I am satisfied with the preparations and the police are ready to enforce the enhanced MCO.

“Personnel from other agencies will be briefed on the operations once they arrive,” the IGP said.

Abdul Hamid advised the people to abide by the rules and regulations as the main goal was to stop the spread of Covid-19.

He also reminded members of the media to take care of their health.

“If you are sick, don’t go to work. Get yourself checked and get treatment,” he said.

Earlier, police and Armed Forces personnel were seen manning the roadblock at the border of Batu 21 to bar anyone from entering or leaving the area.

A check by The Star at the roadblock revealed that people who came to the area were told to turn back, while non-security personnel were prohibited from entering the multipurpose hall area. - Star
