Dzulkefly to lead Selangor Covid-19 task force

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Former health minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad will be helming a special Selangor task force to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak.
This comes as the Selangor Special Action Council decided to form a task force as up to 60 percent of recorded cases involving Malaysians comprised those from the state.
“(The council) unanimously decided to form a task force to monitor and control the virus (outbreak). Dzulkefly (above) has agreed to lead it,” Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said in a statement today.
Even so, Amirudin assured the people that the situation in the state is under control.
“The public need not be worried as the situation to date is under control.
“Steps, such as those outlined by the Health Ministry, should be followed to avoid infection.”
Malaysia has recorded 117 Covid-19 cases, of which 24 have since recovered. Of the 117 cases, 95, all involving Malaysians, are part of the second wave of infection.
Amirudin added that the task force will be working with the Smart Selangor Command Centre to track the virus using the geographic information systems.
“The information will be shared with the relevant parties for the next steps.
“The Selangor government is concerned with the public’s wellbeing and will implement all the necessary measures needed to curb the outbreak,” he said. - Mkini
