Police have submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers the investigation paper (IP) in regard to the case of a cosmetics entrepreneur purportedly hitting his two-year-old adopted daughter last month.
"Cosmetics millionaire's IP is with the prosecutors. It was submitted yesterday," said Petaling Jaya District police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal.
The incident came to light last week after Malaysiakini reported that the suspect's maid filed a report last month.
The maid claimed that the suspect intentionally hit the girl's face and hands, and recorded her crying for publicity purposes.
She said the suspect ordered her to hit the girl but she refused.
Then the suspect, the maid added, decided to hit the girl himself with a shoe and pinched her body which left marks.
She allegedly filed the report to protect herself from being accused of hitting the girl.
Following the report, cops recorded the suspect's statement on March 2.
The case was probed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. - Mkini
