DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke has turned the tables on PAS, challenging them to file another motion of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat, this time for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
PAS had previously wanted to bring up a confidence motion in support of Dr Mahathir Mohamad when he was still prime minister.
"(PAS president Abdul) Hadi (Awang) said a no-confidence motion against Muhyiddin showed distrust towards the King.
"Ok, I suggest Hadi can file a confidence motion for Muhyiddin, we can debate and vote on it in Parliament," Loke said at a Pakatan Harapan ceramah in Klang tonight.
On March 1, Muhyiddin was sworn-in as the nation's eighth prime minister after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong believed that the former commanded majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.
However, Harapan has disputed the number of MPs that back Muhyiddin, and are planning to challenge him on that in Parliament.
Hadi said on Friday that showed that those who would do so, showed that they did not trust the King.
Last month, PAS had planned to move a confidence motion in support of then-prime minister Mahathir, in an effort to thwart an early transition of power to Anwar Ibrahim.
Hadi had said then that this was part of the democratic process, which would allow MPs to vote on the matter.
“We know there are 'cowards' (penakut). Afraid of this motion. We (PAS) are not afraid. It doesn't matter even if our motion is not supported, we are accustomed to losing.
“What is important is that we want to save the nation. Not just the Malays and Muslims but other races as well,” he was quoted as saying by Harakah Online.
PAS dropped the matter after Harapan said it would leave the transition matter completely up to Mahathir. - Mkini
