MCO: PJ cops nab 15 people

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Petaling Jaya cops have arrested 15 people for the past two days over failure to obey the movement control order (MCO).
The district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, in a statement, said they were arrested under Rule 7(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
"The suspects were arrested as their movements were without reasons as listed under Section 3(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Local Infected Areas) Regulations 2020," he said.
In the first case, two Myanmar nationals in their 30s were arrested around 4pm yesterday at the roadblock near Subang NKVE toll.
Around 11am on the same day, a team of PJ cops who was on surveillance picked up three men, aged between 25 and 33, who gathered near a hall at a flat in Kampung Lindungan.
This morning, the police arrested a 39-year old man and a 27-year old woman at a roadblock at NPE highway heading towards the PJS 2 toll.
They were arrested around 2.35am and 4.05am respectively.
Around 3.30am, three men, aged between 18 and 40, who were believed to have been aimlessly riding motorcycles along Jalan PJU 1/41B at Ara Damansara were also nabbed.
While around 4am, the police arrested five men, aged between 21 and 28, who were gathering at the playground at the Desa Mentari apartment.
If found guilty, they can be fined not more than RM1,000 or sentenced to prison for not more than six months, or both.
Nik Ezanee urged the public to observe the MCO and to not take the instruction lightly.
According to the Health Ministry, Petaling Jaya is in the red zone after having recorded more than 96 cases. - Mkini
