No politics? Start your own ministry - Bung opens fire on new finance minister

Malaysiakini

Within hours after Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz was sworn in as the new finance minister, Umno's Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin has opened fire on the former CIMB group chief executive officer.
Bung (above) had taken issue with Tengku Zafrul's statement that there will not be political interference with him as the new finance minister.
"The newly-appointed finance minister in his keynote speech stated that there will be no political interference in his ministry.
"He does not realise that his appointment is a political one. If that is his position, it would be best that he sets up his own ministry," Bung said in a Twitter posting.
The stinging comment set tongues wagging on social media.
One social media user suggested that Bung may later backtrack from his criticism but the Sabah Umno chief was unrepentant.
"No retreat, no sorry," he said.
Bung maintained that his criticism was normal.
"In the past, when I was in BN, I had often voiced out on matters that needed to be rectified. They are new and need to be reminded," he said.
Zafrul (above), after being sworn in as a senator earlier today, said he hoped to focus on economic challenges over politics.
"As you know, I'm not a politician. I'll do my best to help the country," he said.
Zafrul is one of two political outsiders appointed by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin into his new government. Muhyiddin is also the Bersatu president. - Mkini
