Perak Umno is nominating its chief Saarani Mohamad to become the new menteri besar.
Astro Awani cited Saarani, who is Kota Tampan assemblyperson, as saying that they are now waiting to be summoned to the Perak palace.
He said he had discussed the matter with incumbent Menteri Besar Faizal Azumu.
PAS and Bersatu will also be submitting their own candidates for the post.
The Perak government had originally remained under Pakatan Harapan throughout last week's political crisis.
However, after Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn in as prime minister of a Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, Faizal said the state government would follow suit.
Umno and PAS combined have 28 seat, while Bersatu has two. A majority in the state assembly requires 30 seats.
Tualang Sekah assemblyperson Nolee Ashilin Mohamed, who is an independent, has not stated whether she would back PN. She was formerly from Umno. - Mkini
