Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan has urged the new federal government to be a government for all Malaysians.
"Although (the federal government) is dominated by the country's three main Malay parties, the people hope that the government will be a government for all.
"Malaysia must be managed through an approach that is inclusive and fair. Everyone has rights, priorities and interest under the Malaysian sky," said Mohamad (above) in a statement.
He said all Malaysians care about the country's future and economy - the commonalities which were often forgotten.
"This requires hard work, sincere ideas and cooperation between ethnic and religious groups. There is only one Malaysia. Let us make this a reality," he said.
Mohamad's party Umno returned to power in Putrajaya yesterday following the party's decision to forge an alliance with Bersatu, PAS, Gabungan Parti Sarawak and other smaller parties.
This new alliance will see an overwhelming Malay majority on the government bench in Parliament.
Mohamad is unlikely to play a major role in the new federal government as he is the Rantau assemblyperson in the Negeri Sembilan legislative assembly.
Negeri Sembilan is unlikely to see a change of government as a result of the new configuration in Putrajaya, unlike Perak, Johor, Kedah and Malacca. - Mkini
