KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today extended Pesta Kaamatan and Hari Gawai greetings to the people of Sabah and Sarawak respectively.
He said this year, the celebrations will be different, following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO), which was put in place to curb the increase in Covid-19 infection cases.
"I understand the sadness for not being able to celebrate the festivals, like in the previous years.
"Bans on activities such as visiting during the celebration was to ensure that everyone will not get infected.
"As such, celebrate these festivals in the new norm, with family members at home. Avoid leaving home, except for important matters.
"May the celebration of Pesta Kaamatan and Hari Gawai this year, will further strengthen the commitment of all of us to face the challenges and trials for the prosperity and a brighter future for the country.
"Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan. Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai," he said. - NST
