Kelab PJ expels suspended ex-veep for taking legal action

Kelab PJ’s AGM tomorrow has been suspended until grievances of some members have been heard by the High Court.

PETALING JAYA: Kelab PJ, a private social club here, has expelled its suspended former vice-president, Ragavan Rajoo, for taking his grievances to the authorities.

The club’s deputy president Mohd Taufik Sri Abdullah said Ragavan had failed to exhaust all internal avenues before taking his complaints to the High Court and the Registrar of Societies.

Ragavan said he would appeal his sacking. He was serving a two-year suspension on another matter.

The expulsion came after Ragavan obtained an interim order from the Shah Alam High Court yesterday to stay the club’s annual general meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

Judge Khadijah Idris had granted the stay after Ragavan filed an originating summons involving alleged irregularities leading to the Nov 29 suspension of 56 members for two years.

The mass suspensions were over an extraordinary general meeting on May 2 that was deemed illegal by the club’s general committee.

The judge ordered both parties to submit their affidavits by February over issues related to the EGM and the suspensions.

Ragavan had also sought a postponement of the AGM until the court ruled on the matters.

On Tuesday, Ragavan and three other suspended members took their grouses to the Registrar of Societies, who had proposed that the suspensions be reviewed and that the affected members be allowed to attend the AGM. - FMT
