Bersatu unaffected by its members joining PBM - Wan Saiful

Bersatu is not put at risk by a number of its members defecting to Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) - with some even appointed as top leaders within the latter party.

Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan said Bersatu would continue with its declared agenda.

"Bersatu will go ahead with the agenda of integrity, good governance, anti-corruption and anti-abuse of power to benefit the rakyat - regardless of race, ethnicity or religion," he said in a statement today.

On Jan 8, PBM announced its new leadership line-up with several former PKR reps who had won their respective seats using the Pakatan Harapan ticket and later defected to become independent or join Bersatu.

Some do not hold any seats but have been PKR leaders.

Before this, one of Bersatu's top leaders Muhammad Faiz Na'aman, called for these individuals to be fired from government agencies or government-linked companies as PBM is not part of the current government.

Wan Saiful remarked that while a few of their members have joined PBM, Bersatu has still been growing, with party membership increasing every month.

"Bersatu's constitution clearly states that if any Bersatu member joins another party, their membership will be automatically dropped.

"These rules are consistent and apply to everyone," he said. - Mkini
