KJ refutes false claims he's unvaccinated

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has refuted false claims circulated on social media that he is unvaccinated against Covid-19.

He was responding to a screen capture of his vaccination details on vaksincovid.gov.my which showed the first dose was still "in process", accompanied by a caption that said "not even the first dose", suggesting that he was unvaccinated.

Khairy explained that the vaccination appointment database on the site was no longer maintained after the Health Ministry took over the vaccination exercise from the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

He criticised the attempts to discredit the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

"I urge the public not to be influenced by the actions of irresponsible quarters to discredit the national vaccination effort," he said on Facebook.

Khairy reminded the people that he was the first person in Malaysia to receive the first dose of Sinovac's Covid-19 vaccine on March 18 last year which was aired on live television.

He added that his second dose was administered to him on April 8 last year.

"I also received the Cominarty vaccine booster shot by Pfizer last September before I departed to Himeji, Japan for the 72nd World Health Organization Western Pacific Region Committee Meeting," he said.

Following the controversy, vaksincovid.gov.my added a notice informing users that the website is no longer updated and directed users to the Health Ministry's CovidNow portal.

Users can still check their Covid-19 vaccination appointments on the MySejahtera app.
