Police are diverting traffic away from the new #TangkapAzamBaki rally location that was announced last night.
In a statement, Brickfields district police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor said this was necessary to maintain public order and prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The traffic diversions involve Jalan Bangsar, Jalan Travers, Jalan Rakyat and Jalan Maarof from 7am onwards.
"I advise the public who have to be in Kuala Lumpur and the Bangsar LRT station vicinity to plan their journey and schedule," said Amihizam.
Rally organisers had chosen the Bangsar LRT station as their new rally point after the police declared that they were shutting down rail stations and roads leading to their original rally point - Sogo.
As of 9.30am, the Bangsar LRT station remains operational.
The police have argued that they could not allow the protest to proceed because Kuala Lumpur was still under Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan, which entails some Covid-19 protocols.
Rally organisers want to protest against government inaction over MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki over his alleged violation of civil service rules.
Azam was, as of March 2016, a substantial warrant holder in Excel Force MSC Sdn Bhd. His stake was far above the RM100,000 limit set under Section 23 of Service Circular 3/2002.
Although Azam publicly claimed that the warrants were transacted by his brother, a Securities Commission (SC) investigation, however, provided a contradictory account - that Azam was in full control of his trading accounts.
Azam has not responded to the SC's claim, while Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has considered the matter settled. - Mkini
