The senior judge implicated in a sexual harassment allegation claimed that there was a conspiracy by several individuals within the Syariah Judiciary Department to bring him down.
This is according to a police report lodged today by the judge, Mohd Na'im Mokhtar (above), who is the department's director-general and also the Syariah Chief Judge of Malaysia.
In his report, Na'im "strongly denies" the allegation that he had sexually harassed a woman at her house.
"I strongly deny the woman's allegations and I have lodged a police report requesting the authority to investigate her for making a false police report, which was masterminded by several individuals who are after my job and attempting to bring me down.
"I have given my cooperation to the police in their investigation, and submitted the names of the individuals who are still serving in the department under my command," the judge said in his police report.
Na'im also claimed that it was not the individuals' first attempt to topple him, saying that they have previously tried to implicate him with another woman but this was purportedly unsuccessful.
It was reported that police has launched an investigation against a senior judge who allegedly sexually harassed a married woman in 2020.
According to news reports, the woman had lodged a report in December last year claiming she found the judge lying naked on her bed when the judge was visiting the woman's house, where she lived with her bedridden husband.
The judge had in the same month lodged a counter police report, claiming that the woman had made a false police report against him.
Defamation suit
Meanwhile, lawyer Akberdin Abdul Kader, who is representing Na'im, told Malaysiakini that the judge is also suing politician Lokman Noor Adam for defamation.
This comes after Lokman allegedly attacked Na'im's credibility over the case in a video clip that had since gone viral on social media.
"My client is suing Lokman for defamation.
"The legal letter will be issued to Lokman by my law firm tomorrow," Akberdin said.
In the police report today, Na'im stated that Lokman's accusations against him had tarnished his image and integrity.
The judge said that Lokman was being malicious and had committed criminal defamation against him.
"Lokman should get the story from both sides first before making any statement. Unfortunately, he made a reckless action by making serious allegations against me when all of what he said were not true," Na'im said. - Mkini
