PETALING JAYA: Former PAS central committee member Khairuddin Aman Razali has declined to comment on the reason for his removal.
This follows reports that party secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan had confirmed the move was not due to differences of opinion on Muafakat Nasional (MN) and Perikatan Nasional.
“In PAS, there has never been a case due to differences of opinion that caused a person to be dropped or fired, unless the action is against the party’s constitution because it is a disciplinary offence,” Takiyuddin had said.
Khairuddin, who is the Kuala Nerus MP and a former minister, left it to Takiyuddin to provide further explanation. “You have to ask SUA (Takiyuddin) for the reason,” he told FMT.
However, in a Facebook post, Khairuddin, who is also the PAS Syura Council secretary, stressed that efforts to unite the people under MN were in the party’s political interests.
“It is a platform to unite hearts, nurture family spirit, strengthen the economy and make the country prosperous,” he said, referring to efforts by Prophet Muhammad to unite all people under Islam.
After being dropped from the PAS central committee, Khairuddin had reminded leaders of the need to work for unity between PAS and Umno through MN.
“Political leaders, despite fighting, can still sit at the table to eat and drink together,” he said. - FMT
