PETALING JAYA: The decision on whether Umno will work with PAS in the upcoming Johor elections will be made at a special meeting of the party’s Supreme Council soon.
Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan said the party leadership had taken note of Johor Barisan Nasional’s (BN) stand on contesting in the elections on its own.
The views of Johor BN will be taken into account before the party’s top leadership makes a decision, Berita Harian quoted Mohamad as saying.
Previously, Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob had recommended that state Umno leaders be given autonomy in making political decisions, which included ties with PAS, which has a pact with Umno under the Muafakat Nasional framework. - FMT
