PETALING JAYA: Takiyuddin Hassan was once advised by the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat to “discard” his ego, according to Nik Aziz’s son.
Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz said he had known Takiyuddin since his father’s time as the party’s Tok Guru and was even very close to Takiyuddin.
“He needs to learn to discard his ego when he makes it big. That was my father’s advice to him. But I’m not sure if he is heeding it,” Nik Abduh, a central committee member, told FMT.
His comments come in the midst of a spat among party leaders over the recent ouster of a central committee member, Khairuddin Aman Razali, a former plantation industries and commodities minister.
Last weekend, Takiyuddin, who is the PAS secretary-general, dared Khairuddin to state that issues surrounding the PAS links with Muafakat Nasional and Perikatan Nasional were the reasons for his ouster.
This led to Nik Abduh commenting that the challenge laid down by “top leaders” in the party was in bad taste. Nik Abduh said that when friends are “hurting”, there was no need to rub salt into his wounds.
“Where is the fraternity? Don’t talk about courtesy, if you have none.”
Separately, Nik Abduh said he was not aggrieved by those who were angered by his Facebook post, although his critics, he added, “should be fair”.
“I would never reprimand PAS members who chided me over my comments on the party. It just shows they love the party,” he said in reference to Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
Sanusi had hit out at several PAS members for taking to Facebook over Khairuddin’s ouster saying it could be considered a disciplinary matter.
Khairuddin, who is the Kuala Nerus MP, had previously hinted that he was ousted due to his push for the party to continue working with Umno through Muafakat Nasional. PAS had subsequently dismissed Khairuddin’s claim. - FMT
