PETALING JAYA: Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry was waiting for the post-mortem report on a teenager who allegedly died weeks after receiving the vaccine.
Noor Hisham also said that the ministry was awaiting a report of “other investigations”, but did not elaborate on the matter.
“At the moment, the state health department is working closely with the clinicians and forensic team in the investigation,” he told FMT.
He said he has yet to receive the full forensic and pathology reports.
“I was chasing for the reports today.”
Noor Hisham also extended the minister’s condolences to the family of the 13-year-old boy.
He said this when asked to respond to a tweet by health minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who said the ministry would be issuing a statement on the boy’s death.
Khairy had said this in response to a tweet by DAP’s Charles Santiago, who urged the ministry to respond to a call by the teenager’s parents for a transparent investigation into their son’s death.
The Klang MP said the health ministry’s silence had raised suspicions and that this issue would only hinder other parents from getting their children vaccinated against Covid-19.
Santiago also said the findings of the post-mortem must be made available as he died 18 days after being inoculated.
According to The Vibes, the teenager, Revnesh Kumar Naresh Kumar, was on his way to karate class when he began vomiting and collapsed.
He was pronounced dead after being taken to the Kajang Hospital.
The parents have since asked for the ministry to expedite the probe as the cause of death had yet to be confirmed. - FMT
