KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman’s integrity and standard compliance department (JIPS) has neither protected nor victimised any police personnel who have committed offences, said its director Azri Ahmad.
He said there will be no form of compromise and those involved will receive the appropriate punishment.
“We have our rule of law which will be implemented regardless of whether they are criminals or otherwise. If there are complaints indicating an offence or abuse of power, we will act without favour.
“No parties have been victimised and police are fair to all.
“Obviously, investigations into abuse of power involving officers and personnel have their own challenges,” he told Bernama.
Azri said investigations, according to the standard operating procedures, would be conducted to ensure the punishment commensurates with the offences committed.
He said the principle of ensuring justice is the top priority in each investigation and police will not act arbitrarily.
“I wish to stress that disciplinary investigations are different from criminal investigations and the process must be detailed and transparent,” he said. - FMT
