PETALING JAYA: The three children of single mother Loh Siew Hong have said that they want to return to their mother.
A video clip posted by Malaysian Tamilar Kural group spokesperson David Marshel showed the children saying that after three years being separated from Loh, they all wanted to live “with Mummy”.
The brief video, captioned “there is nothing as strong as a mother’s love and more healing than the souls of children”, showed Loh and her three children smiling happily and sitting cozily together.
No details were given on the location of the meeting. However Loh was allowed to meet the children for two hours at a government safe house on Saturday.
“I managed to feed them some food and spent some quality time with them,” she told FMT. But at the back of my mind, I thought this could be the last time I meet them. Who knows how the court case will go?” she said, referring to a habeas corpus application she had filed in Kuala Lumpur to compel the release of the children.
On Friday, Loh had said that she was upset with the mufti of Perlis, Asri Zainul Abidin who had claimed that Loh’s children disliked her and did not want to return to her. In a religious sermon aired live on Facebook, Asri had said the daughters “repeatedly” told him at a meeting with him that they did not like their mother.
The children were brought to Kuala Lumpur today, in preparation for the High Court hearing of the application. She had obtained interim custody of her children in 2019 and full custody in December last year.
Loh’s case will be heard on Monday before High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah. - FMT
