Covid-19 (March 11): 32,800 new cases, 76 deaths

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 32,800 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 3,774,786.

Active cases currently stood at 322,701, up 8 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (9,120)

Kuala Lumpur (3,349)

Penang (2,750)

Johor (2,566)

Kedah (2,508)

Pahang (2,006)

Negeri Sembilan (1,973)

Sarawak (1,745)

Kelantan (1,580)

Perak (1,494)

Sabah (1,176)

Terengganu (1,100)

Malacca (838)

Perlis (251)

Putrajaya (231)

Labuan (113)

Another 76 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 21 were declared as 'brought in dead'.

Over the past week, an average of 76.7 people were reported to have died of Covid-19 per day, while the daily average for the past 30 days was 52.6, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 33,643 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 894 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 771 deaths last month and 491 deaths in January.

Malaysia has the highest number of deaths per capita in the Asean and East Asian regions with 997 deaths per 1 million population, and fourth-worst in Asia after Iran, Lebanon and Jordan – all in the Middle East.

The highest number of deaths was reported in Kedah (15), followed by Selangor (14), Perak (10), Johor (8), Negeri Sembilan (5), Sabah (5), Kuala Lumpur (4), Perlis (3), Penang (3), Kelantan (2), Malacca (2), Pahang (2), Sarawak (2) and Terengganu (1).

There are 8,858 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 380 are in intensive care. - Mkini
