PETALING JAYA: National artistic gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi has decided to leave the world of competitive gymnastics.

In a Facebook post today, she said she was finally ready to leave competitive gymnastics after 25 years.

“Now after 25 amazing years in this sport, I am finally ready to say goodbye to being a competitive gymnast,” Farah said.

She said she may be retiring as an athlete but she would always continue to be involved in the world of sports.

“Gymnastics will always be a part of me, as it will always be my passion. Hopefully, I can give something back to the sport that has truly given me so much,” she said.

In the post, the Selangor-born gymnast thanked all the people she had met along the way in her career for their guidance, love and support.

Last October, Farah took a step back from competitive gymnastics to focus on her recovery after strenuous exercise.

The 27-year-old said she was planning and preparing for her next competition by not straining herself too much in order to come back stronger in 2022.

“I haven’t fully recovered from the strenuous Tokyo Olympics.

“I am planning to slowly start training at the National Sports Council to prepare for next year,” she was reported as saying last year. - FMT
