KUALA LUMPUR: Although PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has yet to state which post he will contest at the party elections in May, he said today that it will be a position of “great impact”.
It would be a position that would allow him to contribute to the party, he said. “Whether I am elected or otherwise, I’m sure that it would be for the best of the party,” he said after attending the annual meeting of PKR’s Lembah Pantai division.
There are 12 days left before nominations for the elections close on April 8. Saifuddin said he was still listening to views from party leaders about which post he should contest.
“If I eventually decide to (contest), that means I want to honour the democratic process in the party,” he said.
The party elections, to be held from May 13-18, are for the 2022-2025 term.
Last week, party vice-president Rafizi Ramli announced that he would be contesting the deputy president’s post, which has been vacant since Azmin Ali left the party in 2020.
Saifuddin’s name has also been raised as a possible challenger for the post. - FMT
